2012 Youth Media Awards to be announced on Monday, January 23 at 7:45 am.

Who will be the Newbery Award winning author this year?  You may have already read the 2012 Newbery winner. Your school library collection is kept up-to-date with the most highly recommended titles for middle school students.

Will the winner be Tall story by Candy Gourlay?  Maybe The trouble with May Amelia by Jennifer Holm or Inside out and back again by Thanhha Lai?  How about Wild Wings by Gill Lewis?  Camo Girl by Kekla Magoon and Liesl & Po by Lauren Oliver are also possibilities.  These titles have all been named as nominees for national awards.  Other titles named as notable and possible winners and available in your library collection are A Monster Calls by Patrick Ness, Bluefish by Pat Schmatz, Okay for now by Gary D. Schmidt, Wonderstruck by Brian Selznick, The Emerald Atlas by John Stephens, and The fingertips of Duncan Dorfman by Meg Wolitzer.

The ALA Youth Media Awards honor children’s and young adult authors and illustrators, as well as producers of children’s audio and video materials. Known worldwide for the high quality they represent, the ALA Youth Media Awards are selected under a cloak of secrecy by national judging committees composed of librarians and other children’s literature experts.

Visit your school library media center soon and check out a notable book.
